Newmark Philanthropies Sponsors Inner Circle Roast of Mayor Eric Adams to Encourage Cybersecurity Defense Network
NEW YORK, Feb. 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Inner Circle’s marquee sponsor for its 2025 political parody benefit is Craig Newmark’s Take 9 (https://pausetake9.org/) cybersecurity campaign, which encourages people to take nine seconds before clicking, downloading or sharing online.
This year’s show, “Beg Your Pardon,” a musical romp of Mayor Eric Adams, President Trump and other political figures, takes place April 5 in Manhattan.
Newmark Philanthropies is known for generously supporting trustworthy journalism, which perfectly aligns with the 102-year-old charity made up of journalists who donate their time to raise money to support future journalists. Now Newmark is on a mission to protect from cyber threats through his Take 9 campaign. He has committed $100 million to form a Cyber Civil Defense network to protect the country from cyber threats such as attacks on our power grids, our cyber infrastructure and even the internet-connected gadgets and appliances in our homes.

The 102-year-old Inner Circle was the event at which Donald Trump famously kissed then-Mayor Rudolph Giuliani dressed in drag, and has seen presidents, governors, senators, Hollywood and Broadway celebrities grace its stage. Its hallmarks include satire of local and national politics and pop culture, with songs and skits backed by a live big band. Money raised for the event goes to education programs, with an emphasis on journalism and arts education.
